Getting the SeedMe command-line tool

SeedMe's command-line tool is a Python script that provides direct access to SeedMe so that you can create collections, set metadata, post files, query collections, and download videos.

Downloading the script

The script is available to Download for Windows, Linux, and OS X.

Installing the script on Linux or OS X

The Linux and OS X script is a 'seedme.py' file. You should make the script executable:

chmod u+x seedme.py

You can install the script anywhere you like and run the script by entering the path to the file:

path/seedme.py -V

Or you can place the script's directory on your command path.

Using sh or bash:
export PATH="$PATH:directory"
Using csh or tcsh:
set path=($PATH directory)

Installing the script on Windows

The Windows script is an executable 'seedme.cmd' file. You can install the file anywhere you like and run the script by entering the path to the file:

path\seedme.cmd -V

Or you can place the script on your shell's list of known file paths by changing your 'Path' environment variable in the Windows environment variable dialog (see your Windows documentation).

Authenticating command-line tools

The command-line tool requires an API key to authenticate access to your SeedMe account. The key is FREE and easy to download and install.
